This idea started while hanging out with some old friends in Wahiawa, Hawaii. We were sitting around, catching up, and someone brought up the idea of opening a brewery in town, just something small, rooted in the place we grew up. We liked the thought of making beer with local ingredients. Something that felt like home. Someone joked about using taro in a sour hazy IPA, and it stuck. So we decided to try it.
Our signature first signature beer, A Taro Sour Hazy—earthy, bright, and a little unexpected, just like Wahiawa. Taro has a long history in Hawai‘i. It's been a staple here for generations—used to make poi, a traditional dish that’s smooth, starchy, and a little tangy. That inspired the profile of our beer. Our Taro Sour Hazy has that same earthy depth from the taro, a soft mouthfeel, and a subtle sourness that plays well with citrusy hops. It’s creamy, bright, and a bit nostalgic if you grew up eating poi.
This project captures the brand concept, visual identity, and the feeling of starting something meaningful in the place that raised us.
